Type Face
What?
Documentary portait of Georg Salden

In the age of the microchip, almost no-one can imagine that there are still 'type artists' who design a printing type not on a computer screen but draw it very precisely by hand.

Type designer Georg Salden explains the development of his type-faces, and makes us think about a more sensible usage of fonts:

"Designing letters, you are first of all stuck to the alphabet - a restriction to substantial forms. Your only choice is adding or subtracting black on white - the purest possible way of giving a shape."
